A Fatal Flaw is a behavior, belief, attitude, or practice that keeps us from living a powerful, authentic life--one that is filled with love, success and happiness. A Fatal Flaw is something that will have a serious impact on our life if we do not address it. Here are Ten Fatal Flaws that affect us as women, and what we can do to address them. These lessons are filled with humor and “ah ha moments” that will help you change your life.
Fatal Flaw #1
Failure to Follow Our Intuition
One of the greatest gifts we possess as women is our intuition. Yet as women we often fail to listen to that still voice that resides within us. That voice that is ours and ours alone. That voice that provides wisdom, guidance, protection and direction. As young women we were often taught to ignore that voice--we were exhorted not to hurt peoples feelings, not to do things that could potentially upset relationships—and we learned that it was okay to sacrifice our feelings, wants and desires so that others would not get their feelings hurt.
As a police officer I saw over and over what happened to women who failed to follow their intuition. They got in relationships they “knew” they shouldn’t have, signed financial papers they “knew” they shouldn’t have, they married people and let people move in with them that they “knew” they shouldn’t have. How many women have married men they “knew” they shouldn’t? Why did they do it? They didn’t want to hurt his feelings or let their family and friends down. Really—are we so screwed up that we are marrying people because we don’t want to hurt their feelings?? The sad answer is yes.
When it comes to the importance of following your intuition, nobody said it better than Steve Jobs in his famous speech at a Stanford University Graduation:
“Your time is limited, so don’t waste it living someone else’s life. Don’t be trapped by dogma--which is living with the results of other people’s thinking. Don’t let the noise of other’s opinions drown out your own inner voice. And most important, have the courage to follow your heart and intuition. They somehow already know what you truly want to become. Everything else is secondary.
Once we own this we can change it—once we start following our God given intuition we will begin to make powerful changes in our life. Changes that will lead to living the life we were meant to lead!

"The key to growth is understanding we are given the ability to make mid-course corrections in our life, and having the courage to make necessary changes when what we are doing is not working for us."
